R. N. Ravi – The official residence of the Governor of Tamil Nadu, Raj Bhavan, is located in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu. Raj Bhavan houses the official residence of the Governor. The Raj Bhavan office, and the quarters of the officers and staff.

Raj Bhavan consists of a series of architecturally unique buildings with a spacious Bharathiar Mandapam and lush green lawns, where state functions, official functions and conferences are held. It also has suites for VVIPs, i.e. the President of India, the Vice President of India, the Prime Minister of India and other important dignitaries.

Another official residence of the Governor is located at Udagamandalam (Ooty), an architecturally palatial building with lush greenery, blooming flowers, a magnificent banquet hall and relics.

Thiru. Ravindra Narayan Ravi was born in Patna, Bihar, and obtained his Masters in Physics in 1974. After a brief career in journalism, he joined the Indian Police Force in 1976 and was posted to the Kerala cadre. He served in several capacities in Kerala for over a decade. And then in various other posts in various parts of the country. While working for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He led several anti-corruption crusades against organized crime syndicates, including the mining mafia.

While working for the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, he worked primarily in insurgency and violent areas, including Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast, and Maoist-infested areas. He also specialized in human migration dynamics in South Asia and worked extensively on the political sociology of border populations.

R. N. Ravi a key role in conflict resolution in areas affected by ethnic insurgency. And also brought several armed rebel groups to peace. He was the architect of India’s international cooperation on counter-terrorism and intelligence sharing.

After retirement from Government service in 2012, he wrote regular columns in national dailies.

R. N. Ravi was appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee of the Prime Minister’s Office. And also the head of the Intelligence Community. And also he coordinated and guided the agencies to meet the national security needs of the country. He was appointed as the Mediator of the Centre for Naga Peace Negotiations in August 2014.

In a short span of time, he brought about a paradigm shift in the peace process. Making it truly inclusive by bringing the issues of the land and its people from outside and making genuine stakeholders an integral part of it. Soon, all the armed rebel groups signed an agreement to resolve the 70-year-old separatist insurgency within the Indian Union within the framework of the Indian Constitution,

Which could bring peace to Nagaland and the rest of Northeast India. He was appointed as Deputy National Security Adviser in October 2018.

R. N. Ravi as the Governor of Nagaland from 01st August 2019 till 16 th September 2021. He has been appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu by the Hon’ble President of India. And also assumed the office as 26th Governor of Tamil Nadu on 18th September 2021.
